Performance Intensive is an eight-day pilot program that offers emerging artists the opportunity to interrogate the heterogenous medium of performance in a rigorous and collaborative environment.
Performance Intensive includes three primary components:
- Lectures/performances by visiting artists and scholars
- Collective workshops/classes
- Individual and collaboration work and critique
This experimental laboratory/workshop is free of charge for fourteen participating artists. Sharon Hayes, Associate Professor in Fine Arts and Brooke O’Harra, Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing and Theatre Arts, SAS, University of Pennsylvania, organize and facilitate the 8-day event. Three visiting artists, Wilmer Wilson IV, taisha paggett, Jibz Cameron, and visiting scholar, Tavia Nyong’o, participate through a combination of public performances, public lectures and workshops for the group of participants.
